Coachella Trend: Blue-Mirrored Lenses

18 Apr

After many days of looking through the Coachella lookbook, if you will, I found one popular trend that will carry through this summer: blue-mirrored sunglasses. Nina Dobrev was spotted wearing Peepers’ Crossroads sunglasses last weekend at Coachella Music Festival. Nina rocked her pair with a denim look out on the polo fields ($16.99;

During the same weekend, Kylie Jenner was photographed wearing Milk the Goat and similar blue-mirrored sunglasses. The reality star rocked a bohemian chic look in her Noosa Shorts and Zuma V-Top ($72 and $69;

How would you style these sunglasses?

Top Trend at Fashion Week Spring 2012: White on White

The one trend taking over spring fashion week 2012 is none other than white on white. I’m all about white on white; however, just be careful you don’t look like a marshmallow! How can you avoid this flop? Well, designers like Vera Wang, Rachel Roy and DKNY are all using light-weight to sheer fabrics so you’ll look almost angelic.

So, are you a fan of this trend? Check out my picks below and tell me what you think!

Trend Watch: Music Festival Style

3 May

Photo: Refinery29 SF Launch Party

Last Thursday, I attended the Refinery29 SF launch party and mingled with San Francisco’s fashionistas and ‘os. A few days before the event, I had my usual mini panic attack (like most girls do before an event) and remembered coming across the cutest dress from a recent email sent over by A|X Armani Exchange about their event at Coachella.

Only a few days before the Refinery29 SF launch party, I raced over to the store and bought the Flutter Sleeve Mini Dress by A|X Armani Exchange that caught my eye while going through my inbox. Saved!  All in all, it was an awesome night and the dress was perfect for the party.

Wondering if there are any other fun ways to wear the dress? Check out Vanessa Hudgens below as she belted the dress and slouched it down below her shoulders for a more casual look.

Find even more casual “music festival style” below on celebs like Penn Badgley, Kellan Lutz, Ian Somerhalder, Jamie Chung, Nina Dobrev, Shiloh Fernandez, Heather Hemmens, Jessica Stroup, Matt Barr, Taryn Manning, Evan Ross and Marielle Jaffe.

They all showed off their best festival fashion in Armani Exchange last month in Indio, CA, throughout Coachella’s countless shows and soirees.

And on Saturday, April 16, A|X Armani Exchange and 944 Magazine hosted the second annual NEON CARNIVAL in Indio, CA. When they weren’t hitting the dance floor, guests enjoyed carnival games and rides like bumper cars, kite runners and slides, and noshed on old-school carnival snacks. Also featured at the festivities: Case–Mate provided a photo booth for guests to snap shots and capture the memories as they were displayed on the hangar wall.  5Gum dished out treats for guests to enjoy while Jose Cuervo Platino and Ciroc Vodka kept the soiree alive well into the morning hours with each of their signature cocktails.

Sounds like a fun time and a great way to bring fashion and music together through timely events! Check out all the style below and tell me what do you think of this trend! How would you “rock” it?

Glamour Magazine: January Covergirl Reese Witherspoon

7 Dec

Photographed in Los Angeles by Ellen von Unwerth, Witherspoon graces the cover in a Burberry Prorsum dress, Shery Shabani for Fragments necklace, Neil Lane bracelet and Fogal fishnets. Inside the issue she is seen in a L’Wren Scott jacket, Kain Label tank, Stella McCartney bra and Current/Elliot jeans, as well as a Giles dress, Shery Shabani for Fragments necklace, Swarovski bangle, Janis by Janis Scott bracelet and Christian Louboutin shoes.

Check out the full photo spread here. The issue is available on the Glamour app (iPhone, iPad and iTouch), the new B&N Nook Color and newsstands nationwide Tuesday, Dec. 7. Here’s a peak at her interview inside this issue:

On how getting older makes her feel sexier…

“I think as a woman, you get older, you feel more confident in your sexuality. You’re not as intimidated by it, not as embarrassed by it. Sexuality and femininity is an accumulation of age and wisdom and comfort in your own skin. I feel better—so much better now than I ever did in my twenties. I am calmer; I know who I am. And as a result, I feel much sexier.”

On women in Hollywood…

“There’s always going to be somebody younger or sexier. That’s why I like to say, and it’s become my famous line, ‘Funny doesn’t sag.’”

On having more kids…

“I would love to have more kids. Kids are the best part of my day. I don’t wake up to make movies. I wake up to hang out with my family.”

On how her goals have changed since making Legally Blonde

“My ambition has sort of broadened. I’m more interested in literature, art, public policy. And I’m really interested in doing more philanthropic endeavors.”

On her life…

“I’m really, really lucky. I’ve got a lot of love in my life. I’ve got great friends. I have two great kids whom I make pancakes for every Sunday. I’m very blessed.”

On making romantic comedies…

“I love romantic comedies. I watch them all the time. I love all my fellow female romantic comedy queens, like Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Garner and Katie Heigl. I also think that the questions romantic comedies ask about men and women are universal.”

Stylelikeu Spotlight: Alexandria Hilfiger

7 Dec

VIDEO: Alexandria Hilfiger from from Stylelikeu on Vimeo.

Sharing an awesome insider’s look into Alexandria Hilfiger’s closet. Here’s a repost from my friends at Stylelikeu!

Within minutes of walking through Alexandria’s door, I was quickly immersed in her exuberance as she draped herself in her recent Peruvian purchases of tassles and bells that the Alpaca wear. Her ecstasy over indigenous cultures and their eclectic and colorful aesthetic is palpable and I get it, 100 percent. Even their animals have better accessory options than we do in Manhattan.

Earthy and glamorous, free-spirited and driven, Ally, who sometimes refers to herself as Alexandria, is charming and real. During our shoot, the Joni Mitchell in her danced in her living room to Edward Sharpe while wearing a Bess chiffon hippie dress with Converse sneakers and a tee, proudly talking about how she only breaks the rules if she won’t get in trouble (like wearing this outfit to a fancy event.) Later, her inner Katharine Hepburn emerged in a pair of baggy, pleated high-waist trousers, chunky YSL heels and a button-up shirt tied at the waist, a look that spoke to her serious side and slamming work ethic.

The bike that she rides all over the city – I imagine her in the Annie Hall-ish floppy straw hat, over the knee socks, boyfriend cardigan, and jean cutoffs – is as much a fixture in her apartment as the paintbrushes displayed in a jar and curtains made of fabric from Afghanistan. Every tiny detail is important in getting it right, she says. Whether it’s something from the Gap or Salvation Army, it’s just a matter of whether the sleeves are rolled up or down and whether you have eyeliner on. Ally has known the virtues of what’s tried and true from a young age, she wore a pair of Chinese slippers given to her by her dad when she was a toddler until they didn’t fit anymore.

You won’t find drugs in the pouch that she wears around her neck – she doesn’t even smoke or drink. Rather, she carries a vial of a oil that maintains balance and an amethyst for containing her psychic energy, both of which she has a lot of. Wise beyond her years, Ally is launching her first clothing line in February and stepping into her own fuzzy, authentic slippers.

NYLON Magazine: Mila Kunis Gives Ballerina Chic a New Meaning

30 Nov

(Top by Armani Exchange, Jacket by Elizabeth and James, Shorts by Ksubi)

The December/January issue of NYLON Magazine hits newsstands Tuesday, Nov. 30, featuring cover girl Mila Kunis just in time for the official Dec. 3 release of Kunis’ film “Black Swan.” Here’s a peek below at her interview with NYLON. And for additional photos and exclusive outtakes of the actress, check out

On Black Swan: “It was the most intense training I’ve ever had in my life, and probably will have for anything. I lost 20 pounds, so I went down to 95 pounds. I weigh 117 usually, like today. I looked like Gollum [from The Lord of the Rings].”

On shooting Friends with Benefits with Justin Timberlake: “I’ve never seen people in my life with so little respect [as the paparazzi]… when we were filming on the street in New York it was pure and utter insanity.”

On her early acting days: “It was just play-pretend. Trust me, I did not have a clue what I was doing. It wasn’t a job for me, I didn’t think anything other than a teacher, a doctor, a lawyer, a fireman, or a policeman was a legitimate job because when you’re little those are the things you see. It wasn’t until I was 20 that I thought I could actually make it a career.”
